Dave (or anyone else with some knowledge), do I need to do a spring mount between the mount and stick? also, does the Ebay link look like a good deal / right item?

nope, the shipping makes it bad, looks like it whould be a bout 26 in store price,,, the one I gave you should work for now. look at the post I put up ro the cb and put yourself down for a 4' firestick II under 27
about the spring,,, that is why the one you have is loose at the base. the vibration without the spring tends to make them loosen up that way and it makes them always back out of the threads. The other advantage of the spring is when you snag the antenne on a tree or parking garage.
I never ran a spring until the one on the truck now and never broke a whip but I was never able to keep the thing tight.

Did you consider triangulating it? even the thicker steel will bend eventually.

Re: Got my Cb antenna mount done
I was going to but then I thought that if it wants to bend, I'd rather the free mount bend than the $40 antenne.

Re: Got my Cb antenna mount done
Have you seen these things bend on the freeway?

Re: Got my Cb antenna mount done
A sppring is $14 at radio shack and yes, they do bend on the freeway. I'm not worried about it since my mount is thicker than my last which worked great.
