Re: Transmission cooler install (with pics)
Put some miles on the truck tonight and man, I am HAPPY!
It never reached 200 degrees the whole night. I drove it on the freeway to livermore and then all aroud Livermore then back home. It just climbed to about 180 - 190 and stayed there.
LOVIN IT!

Re: Transmission cooler install (with pics)
It's on the port on the side of the tranny. Which means my tranny might not be getting hot enough for the most part but then again, who knows. I need to re-due the gauge before it's worth anything more than a (Hot, really hot) feeler gauge. I also havn't leaked any tranny fluid yet

Re: Transmission cooler install (with pics)
Ive read about using that port on the side of the housing, but Ive never found a straight answer on where its reading, and without knowing that the numbers dont mean a whole lot.

Re: Transmission cooler install (with pics)
It is suppose to be taking a readin of the fluid in the pan but it's about a 1/2 inch above the pan and more or less gets a general housing tempature more than anything. The best way would be to get it nice and hot and then take my thermal thermometer and take physical readings off the lines giving me a better guess where the guage is in compared to inlet and outlet temps. Either way, I'm not worried about overheating my tranny anymore. The cooler rocks so far and with the auto switch, I should be set. The sensor - Fan Control, Thermostatic, 180 Degrees On/170 Degrees Off

Re: Transmission cooler install (with pics)
i've got news for you if its only 1/2" above the pan its in the fluid. slide your dipstick down paralel to the tube and see how high above the pan line the fluid id supposed to be.

Re: Transmission cooler install (with pics)
Tranny doesn't leak near as much as it use to. Bad news is that power steering box does. I have the new seal, i'm just not ablt to get the old one out without taking the box off the frame. Probably fix this when I do the SAG. ( stupid leaks!)

Re: Transmission cooler install (with pics)
I believe it's leaking from the sector shaft (where the shaft comes out for the pitman arm). I know Justin has done this repair and I have the kit to swap it out. I just couldn't get the stupid snap ring out. It has a rubber seal over it and I wasn't really sure if that had to come out first or not and if so, how? It's stupid, I know.
